THE ROPEWALKS HOTEL

The Ropewalks is a district of Liverpool with a strong industrial history; the place where ropes that served to docks were made. The district has long linear urban blocks as there was a need for linear warehouses to create these ropes; however over time these have become fragmented and diminished due to urban regenaration. How do you take a commercial building type and apply it to a rich urban context? Creating a unique, strong sense of place for such temporary users was the main objective in creating a successful hotel.
